Studies Toolkit
Vote to make this the first textbook adopted for Mexican Amerian Studies state-wide.
We United to Vote Down a Racist, Inaccurate Textbook. Let's Unite to Vote in a Great One.
Last year a racist and inaccurate textbook was submitted for consideration for adoption in all Texas high schools. However, Texans united to unanimously vote down that book.

The second part of the campaign consisted of re-opening the call for textbooks.

We are proud to announce that on June 7, 2017 the textbook THE MEXICAN AMERICAN STUDIES TOOLKIT was submitted to the Texas State Board of Education for consideration for state-wide adoption.

Professor, activist and writer Tony Diaz is the lead writer and editor. In 1998, he founded Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say, which promotes Latino literture and literacy. He has also been a staunch advocate for Mexican American Studies and education. This textbook brings all those elements together in a powerful way that will instruct and inspire students.

This website includes information on the textbook, as well as all the steps in the Texas State Board of Education's plan. However, this website also includes information on how you can make a difference right now. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to shape the course of education. Let's educate to edify our community through education.
